Middle+/Senior Python developer (ResearchTech startup, remote)

About Company/Product:

• A pre-seed NY-based startup building a marketplace that connects researchers with hard-to-reach respondents worldwide, enabling diverse, high-quality, and fast primary data collection.
• Development stage - ready to move from MVP to a robust, scalable product

What You’ll Do

• In general - work side-by-side with the founding team: dive into the current product, understand it deeply, and share your vision for improvement
• Ship features, fix bugs, and reduce technical debt while balancing speed and scalability
• Own the technical roadmap and communicate blockers clearly
• Audit current stack, rebuild backend architecture, and recommend improvements
• Design systems for high-volume data flows and marketplace logic
• Work with customers to prioritize features

We expect that you have:

• 3-5+ years in backend or full-stack development
• Proficiency in programming languages, mainly Python and JS
• Solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Experience scaling data-heavy products (marketplace/fintech a plus)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with AI/ML concepts
• Bonus: experience with KYC, payments, or anti-fraud systems.
• Startup mindset — self-driven, adaptable, and ready to take ownership from day one
• Experience as a founder/co-founder or an early-stage engineer is an advantage
