CVAT (Computer Vision Annotation Tool) is the leading open-source data annotation platform for computer vision applications, trusted by over 250,000 teams and researchers worldwide. To support our growing community and enterprise customers, we’re hiring a Senior Technical Writer to own and scale our documentation strategy across CVAT Community, Enterprise, Online, and Labeling Services.
What you will be doing
- Maintain and evolve user and developer guides, SDK/API references, and release notes; keep docs.cvat.ai structured and searchable.
- Maintain API documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger/Redoc), CLI guides (flags, exit codes, real examples), and SDK references (Python) with runnable snippets (cURL, Postman, Bash, Python).
- Review API/SDK/CLI usability with engineering and suggest improvements while documenting.
- Instrument docs (Google Analytics or similar) to find gaps and prioritize fixes; track search success and task completion.
- Leverage AI to accelerate development of documentation, code-snippet generation, and stale-content alerts.
- Engage the open-source community: triage doc issues, incorporate feedback, and publish tutorials that improve time-to-value.
- Integrate and support an AI chatbot as a docs interface for common questions.
What we expect from you
- Strong portfolio of SDK/CLI/API documentation for developer products.
- Hands-on with OpenAPI/Swagger, Redoc/Stoplight/Swagger UI; Postman/cURL; auth flows, pagination, and webhooks.
- Comfortable reading and writing code (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash) to produce runnable examples.
- Docs-as-code: Markdown/MDX or reStructuredText, Git/GitHub PR reviews, CI (link checks, doctests).
- Experience using documentation tools such as Hugo, Sphinx or Read the Docs.
- Initiative using AI tools to improve quality and speed across the doc lifecycle.
- Degree in IT or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in English.
It would be nice if you have
- Background in computer vision/ML.
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Familiarity with Kanban/modern SDLC.
- Experience integrating AI chatbots into docs or websites.
